In summary, we have demonstrated a hybrid Er-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) with a flat gain over a dynamic range of 15 dB, with a minimum of optical components. This results from careful choices of the spectra and lengths of the constituent Er-doped fibres (EDF)s
