Abstract :
In conclusion, we have analyzed and demonstrated automatic gain control (AGC) in the in-line EDFA for a hybrid WDM system. It has been shown that the power surge effect on digital channels due to analog signal dropout can be effectively controlled by establishing lasing action at the ASE peak of the EDFA. This technique is applicable for any EDFA-based WDM system with large differences in signal levels of the different optical channels
