Abstract :
This paper deals with data-aided (DA) carrier frequency and time offset synchronization schemes for a transmultiplexer (TMUX) using an exponentially modulated filter bank (EMFB). In filter-bank multicarrier (FBMC) systems like orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), accurate synchronization schemes must be achieved because of interference produced by synchronization errors. We offer two different novel synchronization approaches which are proposed for EMFB-based TMUX, according to the least square (LS) and the maximum likelihood (ML) approaches, respectively, in the time and frequency domains. The performance of these algorithms are evaluated through computer simulations and compared with OFDM system. The result shows the superiority of the CFO and STO estimators based on the ML approach.
