Abstract :
Interference mitigation is a fundamental challenge in two-tier femto-macrocell networks. In the current paper, we propose a 6-sector macrocell layout for reducing the co-channel and cross-channel interferences. Simulation results show that the proposed layout reduces the downlink interference and increases the capacity of femtocell and macrocell, resulting in considerable enhancements in the system throughput. We also propose an interference-level based algorithm of resource allocation for femtocell which consequently improves the system performance.
