Abstract :
This paper reports results from analysis of low-frequency oscillation monitoring on the Western Interconnection of the North American power system from a distribution-level phasor monitoring network (FNET). Some examples of oscillation characteristics excited by various disturbances are discussed using real measurements taken in 2010. The Matrix Pencil method is used for oscillation modal analysis. Analysis results provide a dynamic profile of inter-area mode distribution in the Western Interconnection. Results from this study generally agree with earlier observations.
