Abstract
Femtocell is an emerging concept to achieve high capacity and coverage with the ever increasing number of users and demands of high data rates in indoor environment. As femtocells use the same spectrum as that of macrocell, so the system interference increases and therefore reduction of this interference is the most important issue should be considered to reach a network with better performance. In this paper, to improve system utilization, time-hopping method is used to mitigate the interferences. Particularly, the impact of aggressive signals at a macro user equipment (MUE) located in the second tier i.e. the femtocell coverage area, is analyzed and its bit error probability (BEP) is derived. Our numerical results show that time-hopping technique has a significant improvement on the BEP of femtocell networks and therefore can increase their throughputs.
