Abstract
An optical transmission system to transmit a direct broadcasting by satellite (DBS) IF signal by using a pair of parallel light-emitting diodes (LEDs) operating at a wavelength of 850 nm is described. The optical output power and the operating frequency are limited. The parallel LEDs are used to increase the optical power for IF signal transmission in the DBS receiver. The optical power is increased by 3 dB when one LED is added to the original one, and the transmission length is increased to 1 km when GI optical fiber is used
