Abstract :
In the applied design of chemical plants, on author´s hands-on experience for over 30 years at home and abroad complex chemical plants, author has been finding out many errors happening by designers through those engineering data in detail, and also in the course of pre-commissioning & commissioning, initial start up, and performance guarantee test, etc., for newly-constructed chemical plants. Therefore, totally safer design and operation in plant philosophy based on especially process safety design and strict plant overall management is required for solution of various problems/risks and to protect these kinds of accidents coming from the potential problems under the above-mentioned circumstance. And in the initial stage of plants design, main core points should be observed in detail and designed in application of safety. And they should execute to follow overall process safety management. More importantly, they should make efforts to prevent the recurrence of a similar accidents by finding out the root/direct cause of the accidents in the complex chemical plants through the accurate investigation of accidents in precision. Ultimately, the purpose of this paper is for prevention/minimization of any accidents/its recurrences, and also for execution calling of sustainable approach through major categories analysis on the applied design and operation/production of complex chemical plants
