Abstract
Manufacturers of sensitive electronic components are constantly making decisions on how to provide the best protection of their circuits from the effects of corrosion. They are doing this with the use of tightly sealed enclosures and “gas tight” seals on terminals and connectors. Corrosion has been assumed to be a fact of life to be accepted. VCI technology is now in place to allow design engineers options for protecting their new microelectronics without the cumbersome and expensive barriers ofthe past. This environmentally friendly technology will allow designers the option to design without the use of potentially toxic and hazardous coatings or exotic materials
