Abstract
In this paper, we examine the effect of node selection and data aggregation on energy consumption. We use these techniques to propose a more energy efficient scheme under the same BER. In this scheme, the central node compresses the sensed data by nodes within a cluster and chooses the best cooperative nodes to form virtual MIMO communication as well as allocating power level and constellation size to each node. We propose a method based on link budget and simulation to evaluate the energy consumption when node selection is used.
