  • Abstract
    We have developed a new system to determine the direction of arrival (DOA) of a signal and provide digital beamforming (DBF). The conventional method uses IF signal combiners to perform DOA algorithms and phase shifters to perform beamforming. This method relies on a very complicated RF design which causes the system to be expensive. The paper looks into the use of a general purpose digital signal processor (DSP) and common receivers to perform both the DOA estimation and the DBF algorithms. This is especially useful in enhancing the performance of communication systems which have demodulated in-phase and quadrature signals.
