Abstract :
As the Internet market grows, there will be increasing demand for use of the TV as a monitor. Much has been said about the convergence of computer and television technology, and PC-to-TV output capability is becoming a required feature in PC systems, graphics cards, set-top boxes, and Internet appliances/TVs. TV is the most cost effective choice for a multi-purpose display device for portable and group applications, and it is important to know both the benefits and limitations of the TV and also to understand the importance of high-quality image processing for providing a crisp and clear display of the computer image on the TV. The paper provides a qualitative comparison of the TV and the CRT monitor. It discusses color space conversion, video signal processing, hardware scaling, anti-flicker filters and digital encoders
