Abstract :
In this paper, we investigate the enhancement of Raman amplification gain and bandwidth in silicon based Raman amplifier with a hybrid photonic crystal ring resonator. The Maxwell equations are solved using finite difference time domain method considering two photon absorption, free carrier absorption and Kerr effects. We also study the effects of effective refractive index of pump, and effective refractive index of signal on the Raman amplification gain with addition of several nano holes filled by optofluidic materials inside the ring in the signal path. Finally, by injecting 3 pumps with appropriate wavelength and power, we increased the Raman amplification bandwidth to larger than 1.875nm.
