Abstract :
This paper presents the Unit Commitment (UC) problem of thermal units considering Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP). The optimal schedule minimizes the system production costs during the study period while satisfying load demand, spinning reserve requirements, and the physical as well as operational constraints of each individual unit. Hence, for deriving the best scheduling of generating units, solving such UC problem seems necessary. In this paper, the UC with EDRP problem as a nonlinear and non convex problem is solved using the Simulated Annealing (SA) method. In this regard, the effect of implementing EDRP on decreasing the cost of UC has been studied. It is shown that irrational implementing of EDRP could result in increasing the cost. Numerical studies show a significant improvement in the results of the UC problem.
