Abstract :
Software defined radio (SDR) is the up-to-date radio technology. Nowadays, researchers usually integrate experimental methods with simulation methods to study SDR. We present a new simulation platform for 3G (third generation) mobile communication. Combined with the concept of SDR and complying with the 3GPP proposal, we first built up a general structure platform for the downlink physical layer based on 3G WCDMA (FDD) in the COSSAP software package, then studied some key 3G technologies, such as turbo encoders and decoders, RAKE receivers. We did some system simulation research work on the platform into applications such as single data service, single voice service, multiple services, and so on. The simulation results were similar to those in relevant documents. The results testified that our system could be applied as a basic platform to do further research work on key SDR technology.
