Abstract

Several years of examining the similar but different IEC 60034 and IEEE/ANSI C50.1X standards for large synchronous electric machines by an IEEE PES working group of users, manufacturers and consultants has led to the revised IEEE C50.12 and C50.13 standards that are discussed in this paper. Where it has been possible for this working group to agree to the appropriateness of requirements from the IEC standards, these requirements have been incorporated into the revised C50.12 and C50.13. In this paper the authors have summarized some of the more significant changes that the working group has proposed for the two clarified and modernized standards.
