Abstract :
Wireless sensor network (WSN) applications grow tremendously and the demand for sensor nodes increases due to the peculiar features owned by the sensor nodes in connecting real world with virtual world. In many applications sensed data has to be sent accurately in a timely manner to the base station for further processing. Hence it is necessary to consider security measures during routing in unreliable wireless links. This study proposed a routing scheme where routing metric is based on the information collected from neighbouring nodes. The information includes link quality and residual energy of neighbouring nodes. In the proposed scheme the forwarding nodes are selected through hop-by-hop estimation of link quality and residual energy. The performance is evaluated in terms of throughput, delay and energy consumption. It was observed that proposed scheme perform well in high traffic and limited bandwidth.
