Abstract :
We demonstrate a low mode volume slotted photonic crystal single nanobeam cavity in silicon. Ultra-small effective mode volumes, ~0.025(λ/n)3, an order of magnitude smaller than traditional nanobeam cavities, are achieved while maintaining Q-factors near 104.
