On the basis of emergy analysis theory founded by H.T. Odum, the result of ecological-economic system analysis in yueyang city was carried out in this paper. The emergy flow of yueyang in 2007 was divided into 5 parts: the total emergy used 4.52366 × 1022 sej, the emergy of renewable resource2.4359 × 1021 sej, the emergy of nonrenewable resource4.20633 × 1022 sej, the emergy of money flow1.17321 × 1023 sej, the emergy of waste flow 1.79295 × 1021 sej. Emergy indices of yueyang ecological-economic system, such as environment loading ratio, emergy self-support ratio, emergy/money ratio, electric emergy/total emergy used, emergy per person, emergy density, are adopted to compare with these of other provinces. All of the figures indicated that Yueyang economic development mainly depended on the intensive nonrenewable resource consumption. To promote ecological-economic system in sustainable development way, the development modle in yueyang should be adopted, such as adjusting agriculture inner structure, developing local characteristic superiority, enlarging opening to the outside world, introducing the outer emergy, energy-saving, reducing pollution emissions and controlling the population.
