Abstract :
The authors present a novel scenario of satellite-based air traffic control which can be implemented using an integrated positioning and communication system relying on very small aperture terminal technology. Particular emphasis is placed on the position estimation algorithms, which make use of adaptive Kalman filtering methods to improve positioning accuracy and numerical stability. The results of a computer simulation study are presented
