Abstract
Analog fiber-optic links have a number of design challenges that are not found in their more popular digital link counterparts. This article begins with a brief introduction to the field, then concentrates on the principles and experimental state of the art for both directly and externally modulated links. The utility of these links is then demonstrated by applications in cable television distribution, cellular telephone and phased array antennas
