Exploration learning system in mathematical education

The authors discuss details of presentation and instruction methods under the exploration learning environment. In mathematical learning, it is very important for a student to acquire two kinds of knowledge, MK (mathematical propositional knowledge) and SK (strategic knowledge). A hypermedia system for the exploration learning is introduced. The characteristics of SK under the process of student problem solving are briefly discussed. With this characteristic of SK as background, a concept of exploration learning based on SK is introduced. A configuration of the hardware system using a laserdisc and a structure of the hypermedia system for exploration learning are shown
