  • Abstract
This paper outlines the main features of a new mater degree program for Electric Power Systems Engineering which is being developed at NC State University. The goal of the program is to give students a thorough understanding of the tools, methods, and practices of electric power engineering. The program encompasses a broad treatment of the engineering, management, and professional skills needed for a successful career in industry, and includes both core power engineering topics as wells as new cross-disciplinary technical topics relevant to the clean-energy Smart Grid. The degree is suitable for new graduates as well as experienced professionals who want to receive the necessary retraining to change careers.
