Abstract :
Inspired by opinion formation models for social networks, we consider a scenario wherein a third party or external agent solicits information from agents who can sample and observe an underlying parameter. Different sharing mechanisms are natural depending on the problem parameters. We examine some of these schemes and what the external agent needs to know about the observations. We draw a connection between opinion merging and some ideas from Markov chain Monte Carlo.
