Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a smart phone based interaction in Intelligent Space using object recognition and facing direction of user. The R-Fii (Real-world Flexible Intelligent Interface) which is an interaction method using the user´s mobile device in intelligent space was proposed in the past. However, the R-Fii has some problems. The object recognition rate doesn´t reach to the utilizable level. Moreover, the system is unable to identify the objects when there are same objects or similar objects, such as same shape of lamp, same model of displays, in the space. To solve the problems, the new function of the R-Fii measures the direction of the user by using the camera (kinect) in the iSpace. By evaluating the direction and the image, the R-Fii recognizes the object which the user wants to control or get information. In order to evaluate the validity of using the direction of human for the R-Fii, the user experiments are conducted. As the result, the proposed R-Fii in this paper the showed high recognition rate.
