Abstract :
A novel combined fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and interferometric based quasi-distributed sensor network is proposed and simulated. The sensor network consists of a series of FBGs used as wavelength selective mirrors and overlapped Michelson interferometers working at different wavelengths in a Sagnac loop make it possible to measure the changes in between the FBGs. The advantage of the system is that it combines the benefit of point measurement with FBG and the high sensitivity of long gauge interferometric sensors. This sensor network can be used to monitor some desired parameters like pressure, humidity and temperature in optical networks.
