  • Abstract
    The performance of a twelve-40 Gb/s WDM communication network on 50 GHz over 16 × 80 km standard single mode fiber spans is predicted. Four different modulation formats namely; NRZ-OOK, optical duobinary format, differential binary phase shift keying (NRZ-DBPSK), and differential quadrature phase shift keying (RZ-DQPSK) formats are examined. The simulation results show the superiority of WDM network utilizing duobinary modulation format even for long-haul spans.
