Abstract :
The paper proposes a new fusion method. based on wavelet frame and IHS (intensity-hue-saturation) transformations for merging a high-resolution panchromatic image (PAN) and a low-resolution multispectral image (MSI). This method is developed by replacing the discrete wavelet transformation (DWT), which is combined with the IHS transformation in the existing fusion method, with a discrete wavelet frame (DWF) transformation whose decomposition depth is determined by the ratio of the total variation of PAN´s approximate image to that of MSI´s intensity image. The fusion images of test images show that this method is an improvement on other methods because of its lower color distortion and more smoothly fused image.
