Abstract :
Carbon Dioxide Efficiencies of power sector is determined primarily by the generation mix and system load demand. In order to calculate the total carbon emissions and predict UK´s carbon efficiency of electricity in the next following decade, this paper firstly analyze all the sectors of the carbon emissions globally and in the UK. Secondly, the UK´s electricity generations from now to 2020 are predicted based on the National Grid´s Seven Year Statement. Thirdly, the decrease of emissions factors in the UK due to the changes in generation mix between 1990 and 2020 is calculated and analyzed. In the end, Some conclusions are drawn that the carbon emissions per kWh will be 0.4072kg in 2020, about half of the value in 1990, and UK is able to keep at a relatively low level of carbon emissions from power sector due to its low-carbon policy.
