Abstract :
A control scheme to significantly reduce the packet collision in multiple-access networks with random-access protocols is proposed. The scheme intensively enforces the capture effect by controlling packet transmission power increasingly as time. As a result of this power control, if the first packet in collision arrives earlier than the others by a certain amount of time, the difference in power necessary for the capture effect is retained during the whole colliding period, and the first packet can capture the channel. The essential point of the scheme is that the difference in the packets´ arrival times causes the difference in power between packets. The scheme is thus named the power control during transmission (PCT) scheme
