Abstract :
We have developed a new ATM integrated switching system(AISS) with workstation system (WS) and analyze it for queue centers using PDQ (pretty damn quick) simulator. The workstation system in AISS can be negotiated between ATM switch module (ASM) and client system module (CSM). The overhead and improvement of the performance of the WS in AISS are analyzed. To apply this performance analysis, we develop a performance queuing network model for the AISS system with WS. There are several different kinds of queue centers: srosd, hmilpd, oc, sa, etc. We obtain the queue length (Qk(N),) for each queue center and compare the Qk(N) values. We analyze the relative queue length (Qk(N)) and find the bottleneck point of AISS system. In order to improve the performance for the bottleneck queue centers, MMFS (memory mapped file system) is utilized here. As a result of measuring the queue length through changing the number of clients, the oc queue center shows a correlation to the number of clients. The results of the performance measurements detected for those bottlenecks at oc queuing center reduces 2.5 times by using the MMFS
