Abstract
A novel approach for finite impulse response (FIR) filter design is presented; a high order exponential function is used to approximate the desired frequency response. The main advantage is its simplicity of implementation and versatility. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm has larger stop-band attenuation compared with the Park-McClellan method. Finally, an example of a multi-band filter design is also considered.
