Abstract :
The power-line carrier (PLC) signal belongs to an intermediate frequency range. Deep signal attenuation and standing waves limit data transmission of the PLC only on the secondary side of the distribution transformer. power frequency data transmission (PFDT) adopts the method of voltage zero-crossing modulation. The signal frequency is under 600 Hz. Signal transmission characteristics can be analyzed with the theory of symmetrical components. The notch filter can eliminate the influence of the 50 Hz fundamental wave with its harmonic waves. After that, correlation detection effectively restrains the electrical noise. Field applications indicate the PFDT signal has the capability to transmit via a distribution transformer for 40 kilometers.
