            Abstract :
A number of emerging radio communication technologies which promise to enhance contemporary military radio communications capability significantly are examined. Networking is seen as a mechanism for achieving greater connectivity, availability, and reliability in a tactical environment. Developments are reported, such as fast parameter estimation, adaptive link control, and network quality of service negotiation, which together indicate that such networks are potentially viable
