Abstract :
Some methodical aspects of the mathematical modeling of voltage dips caused by short-circuits in LV electrical networks are considered. Time domain simulation of the voltage dip transients is shown to be necessary for a correct assessment of prospective voltage dip characteristics in the electrical network. Arc faults and the operation of current-limiting LV circuit breakers by short-circuits were modeled. It is shown that the transient behaviour, due to short-circuits, of some types of electrical consumer equipment, such as asynchronous motors, must be taken into account when considering voltage dips.
