Abstract
It is shown that the canonical crossbar arrangement for free-space beams can be folded by means of two plane mirrors onto their plane of symmetry, thereby making it possible to place all the required 2×2 elements in that single plane or even on a single line. The holographic implementation of this reconfigurable 2×2 mirror-folded generalized crossbar with a thermoplastic holographic camera is reported. The bypass, exchange, and broadcast states are demonstrated
