Abstract :
The use of four adjustable window functions for designing FIR filters is reviewed. The windows under consideration are the Dolph-Chebyshev window, which minimizes the peak sidelobe ripple of the window´s frequency response, and the J.F. Kaiser (1975) and T. Saramaki (1989) windows, which nearly minimize the energy in the sidelobes. As a fourth alternative, an adjustable window function is introduced by properly combining the properties of the T. Saramaki and the Dolph-Chebyshev windows. This window generates better FIR filters than the first three adjustable windows
