Abstract :
A free space transmission method using an X-band standard gain horn antenna is applied to measure the attenuation and phase shift through the wet grain using a vector network analyzer. The moisture content of grain varies from 11% to 25% based on its wet condition. The relative complex permittivities of grain are calculated from the measured attenuation and phase shift in the X-band frequency range. A new method is proposed for reducing the effects of density variation on the measured results
