Abstract :
This paper proposes a new approach to apply fractionally spaced frequency-domain equalizer for the single carrier broadband wireless systems in the presence of colored noise. The complexity of this equalizer can be significantly reduced with the help of performing the equalization in the frequency domain, when the channel is highly dispersive. In addition, the overlap-cut method, which can be applied to the existing single carrier air interfaces directly, takes the place of the well-known cyclic-prefix method. It is shown that the fractionally spaced frequency- domain equalizer is superior to the conventional baud spaced ones.
