Abstract :
Cost-effective 60 GHz modules were developed for "Digital@Home"-systems which needed the bit rate of several Gbps. The module have the lowest cost local-oscillators which is composed of only two component, a negative-resistance MMIC and ~3/4lambdag micro-strip planar resonator. The temperature coefficient of the local oscillation frequency was 0 ppm/degC in the range of 20 - 40 degC, and the maximum deviation was 420 ppm at 80degC. The module package is made of plastic materials and the size is 26 times 20 times 4.5 mm3 . A patch antenna with the gain of 5, 10, or 13 dBi is printed on the backside of the package. The typical output power of the transmitter module Tx was 8 dBm, and the noise-figure of the receiver module Rx was less than 9 dB. The combination of Tx and Rx modules with the antenna gain of 13 dBi enable us to transmit the video signals with the bandwidth of 2.5 GHz and the C/N of 17 dB at the distance between the transmitter and the receiver D = 10 m in the "Digital@Home"-systems
