Abstract :
A compact quad-ridged horn antenna is presented. This antenna was designed by separating the antenna into the co-axial to ridged waveguide transition and the flared horn sections. The two sections were simulated and optimized separately and afterwards combined to form a complete unit. It is shown that the complete antenna´s performance is a combination of the performance of the two sections. The antenna is dual-polarized and a return loss that is greater than 10dB is achieved across a 15.7:1 bandwidth.
