Abstract
We have seen a lot of unique features for vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs), such as low power consumption, wafer-level testing, small packaging capability and so on. Our recent research activity on VCSEL photonics for Tera-bps scale optical interconnects will be reviewed. This talk explores the wavelength engineering of VCSELs and their integration, including the athermal operation.
