  • Abstract
This paper presents experimental results on the investigation of corrosion properties and structure of the chromate converted surface layer of aluminum alloy 7075-T6 modified by plasma-enhanced ion beams generated in a microsecond plasma opening switch. Potentiodynamic methods were used to measure the corrosion properties of Al alloy. SEM and optical microscopy were used for characterization of its surface structure. The investigation has been performed both for unstressed Al samples and samples having undergone various number of bending fatigue cycles in corrosive media. Experiments revealed clear improvement in corrosion properties for ion beam treated samples in both cases.
