Abstract
Environmental testing is considered to be an integral part of the evaluation of vehicle security systems in support of the Insurance Industry´s Vehicle Security Scheme. Through the Scheme, launched in January 1993, MIRRC Thatcham in conjunction with the Loss Prevention Council have been testing electronic vehicle security systems throughout the year with a view to recognizing systems that perform to a defined minimum standard. This paper sets out to explain the rationale behind undertaking an environmental test programme, to detail the regime, and to report on the general findings to date
