Abstract :
Misconfiguration of border gateway protocol (BGP) has caused severe impact on Internet. Moreover it will influence the traffic volume that flow into the misconfigured autonomous system (AS). In order to research how the incoming traffic volume changes with BGP misconfiguration, network traffic that flow into an AS is classified into two types: stub traffic and transit traffic, where stub traffic is sent towards the misconfigured AS and transit traffic only passes by. On the basis of relativity of address prefixes and business relationship between neighboring ASes, characteristics of the two kinds of traffic under different kinds of BGP misconfiguration are respectively studied, and the characteristics revealed are validated with routing software under lab environment.
