Abstract :
The single influence and multiple effects of an antioxidant, semiconducting electrodes and acetophenone (a cross-linking residual) on hetero space charge accumulation are discussed. The hetero space charges were found to be generated in XLPE samples which contain both acetophenone and antioxidant and/or semiconducting-layer material heat treated at high temperature (150°C). It was suggested that the hetero space charges were formed when impurities such as antioxidant dissociate thermally with the help of acetophenone and the dissociated species were attracted toward both electrodes by an applied DC voltage
