Abstract :
Transmission line protective schemes are sometimes very complex, incorporating many different devices. Reliability of such complex systems is a concern to the power system protection engineer and presents a significant analytical problem. This paper describes the use of fault tree analysis as one method of analyzing the reliability of these complex systems. A MATLAB-based software is developed and reliability of different protection schemes using various devices are studied.
