Abstract
While XML and related technologies have made heterogeneous data exchange possible, actual information exchange is not yet automatic-or even easy. Although SQL/XML, XSLT, XQuery and some other transformation languages are quite powerful, it can often be very difficult to express the transformation by hand in these languages. Mapping technology is a convenient and valuable solution help to improve this process. After the introduction of mapping tools, an extensible XML mapping architecture is discussed.
