Abstract
A coupling model of double machines for semi-synchronous starting is derived in this paper, on the basis of state equations and the actual process of semi-synchronous starting of synchronous machines. The effects, on the starting, of the model parameters such as initial speed, mechanical torque, field currents of the generator and the motor, and impedance of the interconnection cables between the generator and the motor, are analyzed in detail. The variation rules about rotation speeds and electromagnetic torque of the generator and the motor in starting procedure are given. Finally, a correlative test is done.
