Abstract :
This paper describes the concept of a new approach for recognition the identical behaviour of machines for various power system disturbances. This information is used as a basis for generating accurate dynamic equivalents, which can be applied in transient stability studies. The approach is developed on the basis of the identity conditions, which are solved using standard pattern recognition algorithms. The principal property of this approach consists of the introduction of an electromechanical distance that it significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of calculating identity-based dynamic equivalents and thereby enhances their consistency, effectiveness and application. Test of these approaches have been performed and evaluated in large-scale model of the European interconnected electric power system.
